Google has made a number of improvements to Gmail for mobile for the iPhone and Android-powered devices. The new version promises to be much faster for actions such as opening an email, navigating or searching. Archiving and the Labels functionality have also been improved with the use of aggressive caching, HTML5, and Gears.
The new Gmail for mobile only supports iPhone/iPod Touch OS 2.2.1 or above. If you have an older firmware version, you’ll be directed to the previous Gmail for mobile. All Android-powered devices are supported.
To use the new Gmail for mobile, simply point your mobile browser to gmail.com.
