An ex-employee apparently fired by Globalive Wireless for poor performance in marketing has responded by posting what appears to be the company’s roadmap for both devices and service plans.
Globalive will launch with 14 mobile handsets and 4 smartphones. Among those will be the Nokia 5330 XpressMusic (from CA$99.99 with two-year contract to CA$207.79 with no contract), the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 (from CA$149.99 with two-year contract to CA$449.99 with no contract), the Sidekick LX (no pricing), the Android-powered HTC G1 (from CA$129.99 with two-year contract to CA$429.99 with no contract) and the HTC M1 Magic (no prices).
Voice plans will begin at CA$29.99 for 350 minutes (with unlimited evenings/weekends and unlimited incoming calls). An unlimited plan will be available for CA$59.99. Unlimited SMS, voicemail, Caller ID, Name Display, MissedCall, Call Waiting, Call Conferencing and Call Forwarding will all be included. There will be a number of optional add-ons and services, including international calling and US roaming (using the T-Mobile network).
Data plans will start at CA$10 for 20MB email and unlimitd IM and Communities. An unlimited plan will be offered for CA$40. A number of add-on will also be available.
One downside: SIM cards will only work on Global Wireless devices so you will not be able to bring over your unlocked phone.
Globalive is set to launch its wireless network in the second half of 2009. It will target Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver initially.
