Completing the trifecta of news postings today from Garmin-Asus is news that the two companies will also release an Eee Phone later this year. Earlier, Jonney Shih, the chairman of ASUSTek, had revealed that Asus would release such a low cost smartphone this year. Now, an Asustek representative has revealed that the Eee phone will in fact be released by Garmin-Asus, the new partnership between the two companies.
There are still no details about any of the specifications but some rumours suggest that the Eee Phone could be the first smartphone from the two companies to use the Google Android mobile operating system.
It does not appear that we will find out much about the Eee Phone at MWC. Instead, Garmin-Asus is planning to announce it later in the year.
