Last October, Bell and TELUS announced a partnership to launch national HSPA networks in early 2010. The move will help the two companies transition to 4G LTE technology later on.
Sources have told The Boy Genius Report sources that TELUS could be ready to launch their HSPA network as early as September 2nd. Bell could also be ready sometime in the fall.
This informal launch will focus on southern British Columbia and will allow the two companies to test their new networks and address any issues in time for the 2010 Olympics taking place in Vancouver. Both companies also expect to have their national HSPA networks deployed in early 2010.
HSPA will allow the Bell and TELUS to better compete against Rogers by allowing them to offer a wider complement of phones and collect international roaming fees from traveling customers.
