Details of upcoming large screen Kindle revealed?

Engadget has learned that the large screen Kindle that is supposed to be announced tomorrow will be known as the Amazon Kindle DX. The larger screen should improve the display of information such as charts and graphs in textbooks and other publications.

It will come with a 9.7-inch display, a built-in PDF reader, an improved browser, and the ability to add annotations as well as notes and highlights like the Kindle 2. Leaked pictures show a very similar design to the Kindle 2 although the keyboard appears more compressed.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Kindle DX, loaded with a number of textbooks, will be given to some students at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland next fall. The university will track their experience and compare it to that of other students using traditional textbooks. Another five universities (Pace, Princeton, Reed, Darden School at the University of Virginia, and Arizona State) will also be involved in the Kindle project.

Meet you back here tomorrow for a follow up on the Amazon press event…
