Dell announced its Adamo laptop today, the first product in its new Adamo brand.
Adamo, derived from the Latin word meaning “to fall in love,” will serve as a flagship in a line of products created to disrupt the personal computing space with the combination of new design aesthetics, personalization choices and sought-after technologies.
With the Adamo, Dell is laying claim to the world’s thinnest notebook. It measures 1.65 centimeters (0.65-inches) in thickness compared to the Mac Book Air’s 1.93 centimeters (0.76-inches) at its thickest point. On the other hand, the Adamo weighs about 450 grams more (about one pound).
Two base configurations will be offered. The first will be powered by a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor with integrated 256MB Intel GS45 graphics and Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit). It will come with a 13.4-inch 16:9 aspect ratio LED backlit display (1366 by 768), 2GB DDR3 RAM, a 128GB SSD, a 1.3MP webcam, 802.11 draft-n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 2 USB ports, 1 USB/eSATA combo port, a Display Port, and an RJ-45 port. The second base configuration provides a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM and an HSPA AT&T wireless card.
The Dell Adamo is now available for pre-order and will begin to ship on March 26th. It will be available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, U.K. France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, ANZ, China, Honk Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia/Singapore, Japan, and Indonesia.
