Dell smartphone headed to China Mobile?

According to market research firm Wedge MKI, Dell may be talking to China Mobile about a smartphone that would use the carrier’s mobile operating system. While other carriers have reportedly decided to pass on Dell’s smartphones, China Mobile is looking to Dell to bring a little excitement to its currently drab handset offerings. China Mobile could pick one or two designs proposed by Dell. The smartphones would be powered by the Open Mobile System (OMS). OMS is based on Google Android but has been modified to include China Mobile applications. OMS also supports TD-SCDMA, a network standard developed in China.

A deal between Dell and China Mobile could be in place as early as August. If so, China could see Dell smartphones before the end of the year.
