With a deal in place with Ericsson to build its UMTS/HSPA+ network, DAVE Wireless announced that it was on track to launch in early 2010 in five Canadian cities: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa. In fact, the two companies had reached an agreement in principle months ago and the network installation is already underway.
The only other company in Canada that has is currently deploying HSPA+ is Rogers Wireless.
CEO Dave Dobbin also confirmed that the new wireless carrier will have a new name prior to its launch.
Earlier this year, DAVE Wireless announced that it will offer no-contract service with unlimited voice and text messaging and free voicemail and long distance within Canada. It also plans to offer both regular cellphones and smartphones, including both BlackBerry and Android devices.
