Unsurprisingly after leaks last week, OQO unveiled its new Model 02+ at CES yesterday. As expected, the new Model 02+ comes with an Intel Atom processor, an OLED display and worldwide 3G capabilities. The switch from VIA processors promises battery life improvements as well as performance up to twice as fast as that of its predecessor.
Two configurations will be available. At US$999, you will get a 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor, Windows XP Home, a 60GB hard drive, 1GB RAM,and a 5-inch VGA touchscreen display. For US$1,499, the processor gets a bump to a 1.86GHz Atom processor, a choice of Windows Vista Business or XP Professional, a 120GB hard drive (with option for a 60GB SSD at an extra US$700), 2GB RAM, and a 5-inch VGA OLED touchscreen display (offering a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio). Both models come with a backlit slide-out keyboard, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, and HDMI/DVI and VGA interfaces to external monitors offering up to 1920 by 1200 resolution.
3G capabilities can also be added but only to the more expensive Model 02+ model. HSPA, Sprint Mobile Broadband (EV-DO Rev.A) and Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess (EV-DO Rev.A) are all available for an additional US$149.
The OQO Model 02+ should be available sometime in the first half of 2009 but OQO wil take pre-orders in the meantime.
