The Bluetooth SIG is set to unveil the next generation of the Bluetooth wireless protocol on April 21st. Chip makers that have already thrown their support behind the new standard will also be announced then.
Bluetooth 3.0 will offer dramatically faster data transfer speeds, promising performance equal to that of Wi-Fi (up to 480Mbps). It will also come with a new feature called Enhanced Power Control (EPC) which should reduce the chance of disconnections between devices (like when you put your phone in your pocket).
Hopefully, device manufacturers will start including Bluetooth 3.0 into their devices soon.
