The Boy Genius Report has learned that RIM BlackBerry devices are finally headed to Fido, Rogers’ discount mobile phone service. Staff training is expected to start next week, suggesting that devices could be available later this month.
In terms of what devices will be offered, things are not as clear. Boy Genius sources suggest that the Pearl 8100 is to be the first device to be offered. The Pearl 8100 is the oldest model in the Pearl family and was apparently declared end-of-life about a year ago. If so, let’s hope that it’s not the only one.
Given that a RIM Fido portal is up and running, chances are good that the rumours are about to be proven true. Now we just need more information on street dates, devices, and pricing.
