The Boy Genius Report has landed details about an upcoming RIM BlackBerry device codenamed Gemini. It appears that the Gemini will carry the model number 9300, suggesting that it will be a 3G device, In fact, this could well be the 3G version of the BlackBerry 8900.
In terms of form factor and style, it will be very similar but will have a somewhat more rounded keyboard, rounded Send and End keys and a silver finish. Specs-wise, expect it to come with quad-band GSM/EDGE/GPRS and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, a larger and higher-resolution display and a faster processor. Also likely are Wi-Fi, GPS and a 3.2MP camera.
There are no details on release dates but Boy Genius does not expect to see the Gemini before Q4 2009 or Q1 2010.
Past rumours about upcoming RIM devices are painting a confusing picture. The Gemini sounds a lot like the Magnum (another codename floating around). The Magnum has also been tied to a BlackBerry 8220 (a flip?) headed to Rogers and a touchscreen variant of the Bold. There is also a device codenamed Pluto (BlackBerry 9900?) floating about.
