Both free and paid applications will be offered.

Users will need to download the BlackBerry App World application to their BlackBerry smartphone by visiting www.blackberry.com/appworld from their handset. It also comes with a folder called My World which acts as a personal storage space to allow users to install and uninstall applications and to transfer them easily to a new BlackBerry smartphone.

The BlackBerry App World is accessible over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks and is open in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Additional countries will follow. It requires a BlackBerry smartphone with a trackball or touch-screen running BlackBerry device software 4.2 or higher.
