BGR calls Motorola Droid “the Android device to beat”

Rumoured Motorola Droid

The hype around the Verizon-bound Motorola Droid continues to build. The Boy Genius Report are promising a full review will come later but have revealed a few first impressions and details along with a picture gallery. And what first impressions: “It’s the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive.” as well as “the most impressive phone we’ve used since the iPhone.”

Among the details that BGR reveals are that it is, as widely expected, running Google Android 2.0. Not only is it also a very thin QWERTY slider but the keyboard also made a favourable first impression. The touchscreen display (rumoured to be 3.7-inches) is capacitive and overall performance, courtesy of a TI OMAP3430 processor, is apparently quite impressive.

The Motorola Droid will ship with a desktop cradle/charger (no pictures unfortunately) that allows you to use your Droid as a “multimedia station” to display information such as the time and local weather.
