BenQ joins Android party with plans for netbook and smartphone

BenQ is the latest device manufacturer to announce plans to release both Android-powered netbooks and smartphones. Peter Chen, general manager of BenQ’s technology product center, made the announcement.

BenQ plans to release smartphones first with netbooks to follow later. 2010 release dates are scheduled for both types of devices. The company has not provided any details or specifications beyond indicating that it is currently evaluating platform solutions from Intel and Qualcomm.

BenQ is not currently a member of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA).
