Bell to eliminate SAF on November 20th?

Bell Mobility

A leaked internal document is suggesting that Bell Mobility is about to join Rogers and TELUS and eliminate the much-hated Service Access Fee (SAF). The move could come as early as November 20th.

Effective November 20th, 2009 Bell Mobility will be launching new pricing for all existing postpaid plans & will no longer be charging the $6.95 system access fee. Review the job aid for more details.

Rogers Wireless and TELUS Mobility have already eliminated the SAF and it is widely expected that Bell will follow suit. Rogers replaced the fee with a new Government Regulatory Recovery Fee while TELUS eliminated the fee completely and revamped its plans and pricing. It’s not clear whether Bell will adopt one of these alternatives or come up with its own.
