Barnes and Noble appears set to launch its own ebook reader. While the Amazon competitor may be coming to the table a bit late, its first offering could be quite interesting if the details Gizmodo has landed turn out to be accurate.
The Barnes and Noble ebook reader will reportedly sport a a 6-inch e-ink display with an 800 by 600 pixel resolution. Where things get interesting is that the reader will sport a second display below this one. This second display, offering a resolution of 480 by 144 pixels with a 150dpi resolution, will offer colour and multitouch support.
The interface will be quite sparse with only a few buttons, including next/previous page buttons, search, home, back, and a ‘BN’ button presumably offering access to the store.
Barnes and Noble has scheduled an event for October 20th and it is widely expected that the retailer will unveils its ebook reader at the event.
