AT&T announced today that it will open its Wi-Fi hotspots to Windows Mobile smartphones starting on September 14th. BlackBerry and iPhone users have already been enjoying this service for some time.
The service will launch with Samsung smartphones and will be extended to additional devices in the upcoming weeks. All Windows Mobile 6.5 devices will be supported. Customers will need an unlimited data plan or other qualified data plan as well.
There some 20,000 such locations across the U.S. including airports, Starbucks cafes and others. Connection should be straightforward as it will use auto-authentication. If your Wi-Fi is on, you’ll connect automatically.
