AT&T looking to extend iPhone U.S. exclusive to 2011

AT&T

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that AT&T is talking to Apple about extending its exclusive U.S. agreement to carry the iPhone to 2011. AT&T has had this exclusive since the iPhone went on sale in the United States in June 2007. The current agreement is set to expire in 2010.

The partnership has been good to both companies. The iPhone has helped AT&T acquire and retain new subscribers. Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly getting US$300 per phone from the carrier.

As you would expect, neither Apple nor AT&T would comment on this story.
