At the first stop on Rogers one-day Android tour

HTC Magic

Earlier today, I made it down to the first stop of today’s Rogers Wireless Google Android promotional tour. The event took place at the Rogers building in downtown Toronto. It will continue at four other locations later today.

I went down with the expectation of getting my hands on the HTC Dream and Magic. The closest I got was two non-working marketing prototypes. All I will say is that the HTC Dream does not look as ugly as early pictures made it out to be (my initial impressions were pretty clear). The keyboard, with somewhat recessed keys, might take some getting used to as well. I will have to wait a bit longer to try out Google Android though.

Unfortunately (in my opinion), the event was more about Joshua Jackson than the new phones and the debut of Google Android in Canada. Rogers will only reveal pricing (and maybe new data plans to go with the phones) tomorrow at the official launch. Rumours suggest that both will sell for CA$149.99 with a three-year service plan.
