Asustek is about to throw its hat into the ebook reader market. The confirmation came from Jerry Shen, the company’s CEO, according to a Digitimes report. Such a device, to be released under the Eee brand name, could be available as early as the end of the year.
As the article points out, the challenge with launching a successful ebook reader has less to do with the technology as it does with developing a successful content delivery platform to support the device. It will be interesting to see how Asustek plans to tackle this when they launch their ebook reader.
Digitimes sources also revealed that Micro-Star International (MSI) is also looking at entering the ebook reader market.
