New rumours about the Apple tablet surfaced this weekend with a report that Apple is now set to release the device in the first half of 2010 with a first quarter launch. Steve Jobs, who has been overseeing the project since its inception, is now apparently satisfied with the design and has put it on Apple’s 2010 product roadmap.
Rumours of an Apple tablet first surfaced in early 2007. Since then, it has made regular appearances in the rumour mill suggesting that Apple has been busy with different prototypes
The latest rumours suggest that the Apple tablet will come with a 10-inch display and will be 3G-enabled. Pricing is expected to fall between that of the iPhone 3GS and the cheapest Mac notebooks. These details fall in line with suggestions from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster who expects pricing to fall between US$500 and US$700.
While AT&T has had U.S. iPhone exclusivity since its launch, there are suggestions that Verizon could end up offering the Apple tablet.
