Apple announced today that it had sold over one million iPhone 3GS models between Friday, June 19th and Sunday, June 21st, the first weekend that the latest iteration of the iPhone was available.
“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”
The launch was not without issue as some customers reported experiencing issues or delays activating their new phones. Apple is offering US$30 iTunes Store credits to affected users. It also warned that such issues could continue due to ‘high activation volumes’ and ‘system issues’.
Apple also announced that the new iPhone 3.0 software had been downloaded six million times since its release on the 17th.
