The Chinese-language Commercial Times is reporting that Apple will start to ship a netbook in the third quarter this year. Built by Quanta Computer, it will apparently sport a touchscreen panel provided by Wintek.
Wintek apparently confirmed that it is working with Apple to develop some new products but provided little additional information.
“It said it does not know what applications the new products are for. Wintek added that no shipment schedule has been worked out yet, but shipments are likely to begin in the second half of the year.”
Rumours of Apple netbooks and tablets have been around for a while now. Whether or not they will turn into reality this time around remains to be seen.
