Apple iPhone 3.0.1 released to fix SMS exploit

Apple iPhone 3GS

Apple has released an update for the iPhone to patch a critical security vulnerability demonstrated earlier in the week at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas. Firmware 3.0.1 fixes the SMS vulnerability that could give a hacker root access and full control over all iPhone functions, including the dialer and Safari.

The vulnerability affects all iPhone models and all iPhone OS versions prior to this latest one.

Apple iPhone users need to download the 300MB update through iTunes.
