The first smartphones in Canada powered by the Android operating system are now available. Both the HTC Dream (QWERTY slider) or HTC Magic (with software keyboard) are now on sale through Rogers Wireless.
Built with web-savvy consumers in mind, the HTC Dream and HTC Magic feature built-in integration with many of Google’s leading mobile services, including Google Search, Google Maps, and Gmail. Coupled with Rogers Wireless’ 3.5G HSPA network, customers using these innovative devices will be able to get the most out of their favourite services on the go, with download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, comparable to a desktop experience.
The Google Marketplace, with more than 3,200 paid and free applications, will also be available to Canadians.
Both the HTC Dream and HTC Magic will be available for CA$149.99 with a three-year voice and data plan (minimum CA$45 per month). Prices go up to CA$599.99 with no contract. Rogers is also bringing back its 6GB data plan for CA$30 per month for both these devices for a limited time (until July 1st, 2009).
