Acer planning Android-powered netbook for Q3 2009

Details are slim at this point but Acer has confirmed that it is planning on selling netbooks powered by Google’s Android operating system in the third quarter of this year. The announcement came as part of a Computex news conference given by Jim Wong, Acer’s global president for IT products.

Just yesterday, an ASUS Eee PC running Android was spotted at Computex. Other companies, including Hewlett-Packard, MSI and Dell, are known to be evaluating Android-powered netbooks.
