Google Android 1.6 has barely been released that all the attention has shifted to the next release. The Boy Genius has landed screenshots of what is shaping up to be Android 2.0 (codename Eclair).
Among the changes we can expect are native Exchange support with a unified inbox, the addition of Layers and multi-touch gestures to Maps, a revamped user interface and improved performance for the browser (still no multi-touch though), a new YouTube widget, native Facebook support, more customization options, improvements to the Contacts app, and still more.
One screenshot reveals that the screenshots came from a Verizon phone. Could it be the upcoming Motorola Sholes (aka Droid/Tao) which has been rumoured to come with Android 2.0?
Update: It would appear that all that Android 2.0 goodness did indeed come from a yet-to-be-released Verizon Droid (aka Motorola Sholes).
