Microsoft has barely confirmed that it is working on Windows Mobile 6.5 that the first screenshots have leaked. Smartphone France has published two pictures that it received from an anonymous source. They show quite a departure from the current interface and suggest an emphasis on touch-based interfaces.
There are a number of inconsistencies between the two pictures that brings into question their validity though. For example, the Windows Mobile logo is in colour on one and white on the other. The battery icon and signal strength meter also switch positions.
Smartphone France also conjectures that, faced with increasing competition, Microsoft likely decided to use what it had developed for Windows Mobile 7 to date in an interim release to remain relevant.
