It would appear that HTC is set to jump into the WiMAX game. A new device, the T8290, has been spotted (and photographed). Headed for the Russian mobile carrier Yota, it supports WiMAX connectivity.
Details are slim but we know that the HTC T8290 is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes with a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen display. Aside from WiMAX, it also sports GSM connectivity, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and a camera (resolution unknown). The form factor is very similar to that of the HTC Touch HD.
There is no word on availability and pricing yet.
MoDaCo conjectures that the T8290 could also be headed to the U.S. now that Sprint has launched its XOHM WiMAX service.
