A new HTC mobile phone has been spotted thanks to its recent Bluetooth certification. As always, the Bluetooth SIG reveals very little information. All that we know at this point about the HTC Quar100 is that it is a PPC Phone intended for North America.
Distribution limited to North America suggests that it could be a new CDMA device.
One other possibility is that it could be the HTC Opal which appears to be the successor to the HTC Touch. What appears to be a leaked HTC document reveals that the HTC Opal shares the same form factor as the HTC Touch. It will be powered by a 200MHz TI OMAP processor and Windows Mobile 6.1 with TouchFLO 3D. It will come with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and a microSD card slot. Essentially, the successor is pretty much the same as the HTC Touch with some new software.
Stay tuned as we try to find out more about the mysterious HTC Quar.
