We first caught a hint of the upcoming Asus S101 recently as the top model in an upcoming Eee PC family refresh. But the latest rumours suggest that the S101 may drop out of the Eee PC lineup in part due to its price.
ASUS company president Jerry Shen also revealed that that S101 will come with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor with 945GME chipset, a 10.2-inch LED backlit display, and options for either 32GB or 64 GB SSDs. It will be no thicker than 21millimeters (0.83 inches). The notebook feature a glossy finish and will be available in white or brown. There are no details yet on which operating systems will be offered with the S101.
ASUS expects to start shipping the S101 in September. The 32GB version is expected to sell for about USD$699 and the 64GB version for USD$899.
