At a press event yesterday, Ericsson AB gazed into its crystal ball and revealed its vision for high-end mobile devices in 2012.
The new devices be powered by 1GHz processors and will support high-speed LTE communications of more than 100Mbps. They will also include XGA (1024 by 768) displays, 12 to 20MP cameras and will be capable of shooting video in full HD.
Ericsson also predicts a gradual shift from HSPA to “HSPA evolution” with speeds expected to hit 21Mbps. LTE deployments will also take place but adoption will vary by region and may not become mainstream until later than 2012.
So, is Ericsson exuberantly over optimistic or is this really what we can look forward to in three short years?
