Indian manufacturer Spice has announced the Spice D-1100, a dual-SIM card and dual-GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio mobile phone. Together, these two features might make the D-1100 a very desirable device for those who travel a lot.
The first radio supports the 850/900/1800/1900MHz bands and the second covers the 900/1800 bands. The two SIMs can be active simultaneously, allowing you to receive calls using two different phone numbers. You can also use data services on the card of your choice (useful if you bought a local carrier SIM card during your travels).
The Spice D-1100 is powered by Windows Mobile 6. Aside from the dual-SIM and radios, it comes with 64MB of memory, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2MP camera, a microSD card slot, and a 1350 mAh battery.
The Spice D-1100 is available for INR17,000 (about USD$400). It’s not clear whether it will be available outside of India though.
