Sony Ericsson announced its fiscal year 2007 results recently. One of the highlights was that the company sold over 100 million handsets in 2007, an 18 percent increase in volume compared to 2006. Much of this growth was tied to lower priced phones.
Without revealing specific numbers, Sony Ericsson indicated that it had gained additional market share in markets such as Europe and the Americas. It also estimated that its global market share increased about 2 percent to 9 percent overall based on estimates that the global handset market reached 1.1 billion units in 2007.
