Earlier today, Samsung Korea announced an upgraded version of the Omnia. Called the T*Omnia, it comes with a larger 3.3-inch touchscreen display running at WVGA (800 by 480) resolution and adds a DMB TV tuner. The original Omnia, announced back in June, comes with a 3.2-inch wide QVGA (240×400) touchscreen display and lacks a TV tuner. As a result of the slightly bigger screen, the T*Omnia is slightly larger, measuring 115.2 by 58.1 by 13.65 millimeters.
Other specifications are the same as those of the original Omnia. The Samsung T*Omnia (two models: SCH-M490 and SCH-M495) is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and a custom user interface called TouchWiz. It comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, a tiny trackpad, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, A-GPS, an FM radio with RDS, a 5MP auto-focus camera, a microSD expansion slot, and a 1,440mAh battery. The M490 comes with 4GB of internal memory whereas the M495 comes with 16GB.
The Samsung T*Omnia will be offered exclusively by SK Telecom and will be available in mid-November. Pricing information was not revealed.
