Rogers Wireless finally formally announced the launch of the RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone today.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, an external LCD (128 by 160 pixel resolution) and a larger QVGA internal display, a 20-key SureType keyboard, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi (with support for Rogers TalkSpot service), Bluetooth 2.0, a 2MP camera, a microSDHC card slot (up to 16GB), a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 900mAh battery. It also includes the new BlackBerry Media Sync application to sync iTunes digital music collections with the smartphone. Finished in a chrome frame, it weighs only 102 grams (3.6 ounces) and measures 9.9 by 4.8 by 1.8-centimeters (3.9 by 1.9 by 0.7-inches). Initially available in black, it will be followed by a pink version in the coming weeks.
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 will be available from Rogers starting on November 4th. The price will start at CAD$49.99 with a three-year service contract (minimum of CAD$35 per month).
