RIM formally announced the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 today.
The new BlackBerry Pearl Flip provides flip phone fans with all the power of a BlackBerry smartphone in a fun and familiar design. One quick flip of the handset opens up a world of possibilities with the industry’s leading mobile messaging solution and a wide range of impressive Internet and multimedia capabilities, all in one powerful yet approachable smartphone. You can send a message to your friends or family, make a call, browse the web, snap a picture, watch a video or listen to your favorite song. It’s all in your control with a simple flip.
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, an external LCD (128 by 160 pixel resolution) and a larger QVGA internal display, a 20-key SureType keyboard, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2MP camera, a microSDHC card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 900mAh battery. It also includes the new BlackBerry Media Sync application to sync iTunes digital music collections with the smartphone. Finished in a chrome frame, it weighs only 102 grams (3.6 ounces) and measures 9.9 by 4.8 by 1.8-centimeters (3.9 by 1.9 by 0.7-inches).
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone will be available around the world later this fall. Pricing details were not revealed today.
