Nokia announced two devices in its N line of mobile devices. As previous models, both are described as multimedia computers.
It looks like the Nokia N85 will succeed the N81 and features the same slider form factor. It comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, a 2.6-inch QVGA OLED display, N-Gage gaming, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, an FM transmitter, a 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and geotagging capabilities, GPS/A-GPS (with a three month integrated license for turn-by-turn voice navigation and high-speed connectivity), a microSD card slot (8GB microSD card also included), a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a 1200 mAh battery. It will powered by the Symbian 9.3/S60 operating platform.
The Nokia N79 candybar looks to be an evolution of the N78. It comes with specifications very similar to that of the N85 except that it will have quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and dual-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity and a 2.4-inch QVGA display.
The Nokia N79 will come with three Xpress-on smart covers (available colours are Light Sea Blue, Espresso Brown, Olive Green, White and Coral Red).
The Nokia N79 and N85 are expected to go on sale in October in Europe for €350 and €450 respectively.
