The bad news for HD-DVD continues. First up but not a big surprise, New Line Cinema is also going to offer Blu-Ray exclusively. The move was expected given that it is owned by Time Warner which also owns Warner Bros. New Line has already stopped producing HD-DVD titles.
Microsoft, meanwhile, will continue to stand behind the HD-DVD format but it could change its tune if consumers ask for it. “It should be consumer choice; and if that’s the way they vote, that’s something we’ll have to consider,” Albert Penello, group marketing manager for Xbox hardware said when asked whether Microsoft would support a Blu-ray DVD accessory in the event that HD-DVD failed.
