The MSI Wind will hit U.S. shores on June 3rd, said Andy Tung, MSI’s Director of US Sales, in an interview with Laptop Magazine. While MSI will release both an 8.9-inch and a 10-inch versions (both running at 1024×600), only the latter will make it to the U.S.
Two 10-inch models are on their way. The first will run Novell’s SUSE Linux and come with 512MB RAM, an 80GB hard drive and 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi. The second will come with Windows XP and come with 1GB RAM, an 80GB hard drive, 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Both will come with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, a choice of black, white, silver, and pink and a 6-cell battery. The former will sell for USD$399 and the latter for USD$549 (better prices than originally expected). A lower spec XP model selling for under USD$500 could also be available later.
MSI is currently in talks with Best Buy, Amazon, and Costco to carry the Wind.
There is no word on whether or not we will see the Wind in Canada.
