HP cancels North American version of iPAQ 610

HP iPAQ 610 Business Navigator

Engadget Mobile is reporting that HP has decided to cancel the release of the iPAQ 610 Business Navigator for North America. A number of people who had signed up to be notified of when the iPAQ 610 would be available have instead received an email telling them of the cancellation. The email specifically mentions the United States but I suspect that the cancellation will also affect Canada.

The cancellation is attributed to recent legal issues between suppliers of mobile phone technologies.

The iPAQ 600 series is powered by a 520MHz Marvell processor and Windows Mobile 6 Professional. It comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, GPS, 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, an optional 3MP camera and a microSD slot. It also features a Smart Touch Wheel, 3-way thumb wheel and 12-key numeric pad.

We will have to see if the cancellation affects other parts of the world.
