If this week’s announcement by HP of its own low-cost notebook caught your attention, you can now head over to their U.S. site and place your order.
Five configurations are offered. For USD$499, you can get a Mini-Note PC running SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and packing a 1.0GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi. At the other end of the range is the USD$849 model with Windows Vista Home Basic, a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. All 5 models come with an 8.9 WXGA display and VGA webcam.
It’s not clear yet when the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC will head north of the border into Canada.
