Google Android developers are now being offered a SIM-unlocked and hardware-unlocked Android Dev Phone 1.
You can use any SIM in the device and can flash custom Android builds that will work with the unlocked bootloader. Unlike the bootloader on retail devices, the bootloader on the Android Dev Phone 1 does not enforce signed system images. The Android Dev Phone 1 should also appeal to developers who live outside of T-Mobile geographies.
Initially, the device is to be offered in 18 international markets, including the U.S., Canada, France, the UK, Netherlands, Australia, and others. It sells for USD$399 (with free shipping in the U.S.). Developers will need to be registered on the Android Market site (requiring a registration fee of USD$25) to be able to order it.
The Android Dev Phone, none other than a T-Mobile G1 variant by the way, also comes with a custom design on the back.
