At a press event at Sony Ericsson headquarters for the XPERIA X1, Arne Hess of the::unwired heard the first hints about a potential X1 successor. With Sony Ericsson confirming that it has not joined the Open Handset Alliance, there is little chance (at this time) that it would run Google’s Android. Instead, it looks like whatever the next XPERIA is called, it will be running Windows Mobile like the X1.
Sony Ericsson also confirmed new details about the XPERIA X1. It will come with 384MB RAM and that two versions will be available as first reported last May. The X1a will be available for North America and the X1i for the rest of the world (a=America and i=International?). The company also revealed that Spb Software House will release an Spb Shell plug-in specifically for the XPERIA X1.
