US-based Hop-on Inc. is set to introduce disposable mobile phones to Europe in the next couple of months. To be available for about 13 Euros (about USD$20), the phones will come with dual-band GSM connectivity, buttons to initiate and end calls and a dedicated 911 button but will not include a display. It’s not clear though whether the phones will be rechargeable.
A European distributor has purchased 10,000 phones for an initial test run. Where this test will take place and where in Europe will these phones be available has not yet been revealed.
Aren’t there enough cell phones already being thrown out every year?
