Citing two high-level sources, The Boy Genius is reporting that the AT&T version of the BlackBerry Bold will be delayed until August. The delay is due to software issues with battery life and overheating. As a result, AT&T has yet to certify the BlackBerry Bold.
It’s not clear whether the AT&T delays will also affect other carriers (for example, Rogers Wireless in Canada). Unless AT&T has asked for some custom code, it’s likely though that the same issues will affect the Rogers version of the Bold.
With Google running into delays with its Android operating system and devices, that’s now two Apple competitors running into delays with devices that would likely compete with the upcoming iPhone 3G.
