ASUS is getting ready to update its successful Eee sub-notebook lineup. New model(s) should be announced during CES 2008 and are expected to sport a larger 8.9-inch display and WiMAX.
On the display side, the Chinese-language Commercial Times is reporting that ASUS is looking to add a 8.9-inch screen to address complaints about the current Eee’s 7-inch 800×480 widescreen display. Presumably but not confirmed, the new display would offer a resolution of 1024×600. DigiTimes, on the other hand, is reporting that ASUS is looking to offer both 8 and 9-inch displays (resolution unknown).
As for the inclusion of WiMax, a CES 2008 ASUS event pretty much confirms it. The event invitation promises a preview of next-generation mobile solutions (including the next generation EeePC).
The inclusion of both the larger display and WiMAX is expected to add about USD$100 to the price which currently range from about USD$299 to USD$499 depending on configuration.
