The ASUS Eee 900 PC has barely starting to hit the street that ASUS is already talking about new models. Two major updates were revealed by Asustek Computer president Jerry Shen.
First up, we will see an ASUS Eee running the Intel Atom processor by June. According to DigiTimes sources, ASUS may have ordered up to three million Atom processors. Competitors, on the other hand, are reported to have ordered far fewer Atom processors from Intel. For example, Acer has apparently ordered about a million so far and Dell up to 500,000 for its own forthcoming low-cost notebook. HP is reported to have ordered about 100,000 VIA Technologies C7-M ULV processors for its Mini-Note PC.
Then, later in the year, the ASUS Eee PC family will see the addition of a 10-inch display model.
ASUS is definitely not standing still in the face of increased competition in this new market segment.
