Apple launches App Store and iTunes 7.7

Apple

A day ahead of the Apple iPhone 3G launch, Apple has released the latest version of its iTunes software. The new version will be required to support the iPhone 3G and first generation iPhones running the iPhone 2.0 firmware. It will also allow access to the App Store and adds support for the new Apple MobileMe push service. It also works with the new iPhone remote application that lets you remotely manage iTunes on PCs using your iPhone or iPod touch.

The App Store is also ready for the iPhone 3G release. It launched today with over 500 applications of which more than 25 percent will be free. You can start to browse through the App Store catalog as soon as you’ve installed iTunes 7.7. The available software covers a wide breadth of categories including Business, Games, Music, Navigation, Sports and Weather among others.
